Kr., March f.In May lflFt a number of negroes livingin the vicinity of Gravel Switch, a station on the Louisville k Knoxville Railroad, in Kentucky, were taken from their house, or the house of one of them, where they were assembled, and were spending a social evening together, and whipped. One ot the party, a negjy* who attempted to «*cttpe, was shot and kiUad by the vigQanee committee. Several others were whipped; one colored man named Tucker, who owned a small patch of land and a cabin, was severely beaten.
