Crawford (Our Own Correspondent) “An Old Fashioned Mother” will be staged by the Crawford Young People’s Society at the Crawford church on Friday, March 22. “An Old Fashion ed Mother” is a three act play running about 2% hours. The acts are sum med up as follows: First Act, The Good Samaritan, Second Act—A Mo ther’s Love; Third Act—The Prodigal Son. A dear old mother’s love for her wayward son permeates the whole play. The story is lightened by Jerry Gosling’s “jest’ what man says” and Lowizy Loving Custard’s comical love making. The old fashioned church choir render musical numbers. All who admire the unselfish devo tion of a mother for her children will enjoy this play. Mr. Hermian Bierworth, who direct ed a most successful play two years ago at Louise Hall, is also directing this one. Come to Crawford on Friday, March 22, at 8 pm. Admission, Adults 35c., children 15c. Miss Blanche Boyce visited on Sun day at her home here. Miss Martha Kaufmann is assisting with the household duties at the home of her brother Louis at Marmion. The C. Y. P. S. met on Thursday, February 28th. A large crowd was in attendance. Mrs. R. Hastie and Mr. William Henderson had charge of the meeting. The latter occupied the chair. The Scripture lesson was read by Mr. H. Bierworth. Mrs. R. Hastie gave a very interesting paper on the life and work of “Florence Nightin gale, the Lady with the Lamp”. Two selections by the male quartettes were much enjoyed as was also a duet by Mr. James McDougall and Miss Elsie Boyce. A fine paper was contributed by Miss Mildred Henderson. Two con tests closed the evening’s program. The next meeting, March 14, will be in charge of Miss Laura Kaufmann and Mrs. Edgar Boyce. Mr. D. J. Mc Donald will speak on the subject, “The Bible, a book for young people”. (Intended for Last Week.) Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Biemann were Mrs. Posner, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Unruh and family, Mr. Martin Lorenz of Lamlash and Mr. Eric Bermich of Hanover. Miss Esther Petty was the guest of Rev. and Mrs. Young of Elmwood over the week-end.
