2 MURDERS.LIMERICKMayor and Ex-Mayor of Limerick Are Shot andKilled in Their OwnMorningCURFEW KEPTFAMILIES INJJULLIN, March 6—George Clancy,Mayor of Limerick, was shot and killed in his home in that city early this morning and his wife was seriously wounded. At the same time Michael O’Callaghan, former mayor of the city, was killed at his residence.Members of the household say they were afraid to venture on theIstreets to summon assistance owing to the curfew regulations.Mayor Clancy was dead and Mrs. Clancy in a critical condition when the doctor arrived from the hospital an hour after the shooting occurred.Former Mayor O’Callaghan was dying when the doctors summoned by the police arrived at his house.A band of men shot the mayorand former mavor in cold blood asthey were lying in their beds. Mrs. Clancy was shot in the arm while endeavouring to protect her husband.Sinn Feiners interpret the shootings as reprisals for the. assassination of Brig.-General Cummaig.
