It is the custom to close the store between 10 and 11 o’clock, but the hour of 11 having gone by Mrs, St. Martin became uneasy and went to the store in search of her husband The doors were unlocked and all the lights were out except one in the front window She called her husband dry name and be answered with a groan from therear rdom o£ the building. She went to him and found him lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He was only partially conscious, but made known to her that he was badly hurt. She summoned help and he was carried to the office of Dr. Bush and it was found that be bad been shot, Lite ball entering the right ear and lodging in the brain. The bullet was removed and the sufferer made as comfortable as possible. lie aroused up sufficiently yesterday morning to make a statement of how he caiue to get shot. Mr. St. Mar Liu grabbed up bis revolver, thrust a couple of cartridges into it and tired at the man, who dropped the Cash box and rushed upon Mr. St. Martin, and in the struggle which followed the burglar tired the fatal shot. Several bullets struck the rear door anti the wounded man's revolver was found at his feet.1**
