Church Slates GroundbreakingTwo years after its initial organization, members of the West Plano Presbyterian Church will break ground for a permanent church facility Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the building site, 2709 Custer Rd.The future church location consists of four acres located in central west Plano. The completed structure will have a seating capacity of 250 with room for future expansion. It is expected that construction be completed in the fall.The design of the church building has been planned under the direction of the building committee chaired by Gordon Vander Breggen in conjunction with the architectural firm of Pierce Lacey Partnership Inc.The exterior form will be contemporary while the interior will be arranged to accommodate worship,education, fellowship and administrative functions.Sunday services are currently being conducted at Davis Elementary School, 2701 Parkhaven Dr In the event of rain, the groundbreaking ceremonies will commence in the Davis cafetorium A catered luncheion will be served in the gym at noon immediately following morning worship.Participating in the groundbreaking ceremony will be Plano Mayor Pro Tern Bob Ellis, Associate General Presbytr James W. Newton, architect Byron Schaff, Rev. L. Maurice Barnett, assoc, pastor Rev. Rebecca Weaver, groundbreaking chairman Jim Jacobs, building chairman Gordon Vander Breggen, capital funds chairman Ron Nichols and three Sunday school representatives.
