MURDER ON THE RANGf.•Kid” Rich Killed bj a Stranger Near Cherry Creek.▲ Pierre Bpecinl nays: Sunday night Ed Hunter, an Indian living on Cherry Creek, about seveuty-five mile# west of here, came in uud reported the murder of bia brother-in-law, August Rich, better known as •‘Kid” Rich all over the range country.The report is to the effect that late Friday evening some one rapped at the door of Rich's house and when the door was opened by James Cavanaugh, a relative of Rich, someone stepped back in the darkness and asked for Kid.” Rich went out, and after n short conference with the stranger came back and reported that Straighthead, the chief of the Indian police, wanted to see him at Cherry Creek agency and he would go. The two left together, and Rich was found by Indians about an hour Inter lying in the rood atjout two miles from home, shot in the back.
