Fee Ilnntcrs.Just $60,000 were appropriated to pay pensions to confederate widows, but quite a number of people arc interested, it seems, in getting a percentage of that iu fees. Most of the fee hunters live outside the state. Information has been received at the capitol of two pension agencies in Washington, D. C\, writing to postmasters and others for the names of widows entitled to pensions under the Georgia | law, and offering, as pay for such information, a percentage of the agencies’ fees for collection. Quite a number of applications have come direct to the capitol from lawyers and agencies outside the state as well as in it, asking for pension blanks. To all such requests the answer has been uniform—that it was the state’s policy to make lawyers’ services and fees unnecessary in the payment of these pensions, and to have the money go direct to those for whom it was appropriated.
