ESTHER KUNKELFuneral services for Esther Fischer Kunkel, 99, were held Wednesday afternoon in the St. Luke Lutheran Church with the pastor, Rev. Crcg Hyatt, officiating.She died March 2, 1998, in a local nursing home.Born September 26, 1898, in Giddings, she was the daughter of the late August Fredrick and Anna (Schuster) Fischer. She and Karl P. Kunkel were married in Giddings November 5, 1922. He preceded her in death August 11, 1995.Mrs. Kunkel was a homemaker and had lived in Olney since 1922. She was a membei of the St. Luke Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She had served as a volunteer for the Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary.Survivors include a son, Wilbur J. Kunkel, Olney; daughter, Mildred L. Slater, Olney; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a son, Melton Kunkel, September 14,1980,and granddaughter, Bridget A.
