STAGE SHOWSPick of the World”TivoliMr. Frank Neil excels himself in his new vaudeville production, ‘ Pick of the World.” It also gains exotic distinction from the fantastic turn provided by Charles Withers and his “Op*17.” The stage Is set with an archaic proscenium. behind which are enacted fruity exerpta from operas, the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet rendered in pure barnstorming artistry. There is a film 0/ ancient vintage with melodrama, and other turns that were overripe in the 'eighties of last century. Controlling everything as stage manager. house manager, scene shifter, conductor. dec., is Captain Withers.Captain Withers, by operating a mane of machinery that looks like a Heath Robinson nightmare come true, controls all the stage effects. By pulling strings he produces wind, snow storms, thunderbolts, and all other sound effect* off stage. 2 do not think it would be possible to cram more inspired or hilarious lunacy Into such a compact form. It Is a really delightful turn.Among other excellent turns are those of Florence and Clifton and Albert Powell and Lady, who indulge in some hair-raising bar and trapeze work. The two young and very graceful Harris sisters won a well-deserved ovation. Bernard and Henrie, two pep ladles from Hollywood.” fully Justified the pep. and they did not forget the mustard, either. Chilton and Thomas fairly dazzled admirers of tap dancing.Mr. Charles Norman kept the house bubbling with his humour.
