In Ms opening remarks, Mr. Lee said as Englishmen it hoxild be admitted that they ought to bett nkful for tl position which the country and fcho people had attained. They should be proud of theirEmpire, and of their soldiers and sailors, 'whoin times past had done their best to spread the extent of theEmpire. They should also be proud of their Colonists —men who bad gone out to tho far parts of the earth, and they made not only those parts habitable, but their efforts were appreciated by the rest of the world.
