Mabel J. Hayden, 83, formerly of R. 2. Delphi, departed this life on February 28, 1987, in Rio Hondo Memorial Hospital, Downey, California. She had suf fered a stroke 3 years ago. Mrs. Hayden moved to Downey over 3 years ago. She was born in Adams Township, of Carol Co. on June 12, 1903, the daughter of Ambrose and Nora Wakeland Corn. She married George W. Hayden on March 16, 1921 and he preceded her in death in 1950. A homemaker, Mrs. Hayden, was a member of the Hickory Grove United Church of Christ and was a former member of Women’s Relief Corps. and Westside Flower Club. Surving are 3 sons, Harold Hayden, of Delphi, Willis Hayden, of Albuquerque, New, Mexico, and Albert Hayden, of Whittier, California; 3 daughters Thelma Calhoun, of Downey, Ca., Pearl DeKay, of Checotah, Okla, and Shirley Olson, of Kemp, Texas. Also surviving is a brother William Corn, of Delphi and a sister, Hazel Regal, of Carroll Manor, 19 grandchildren and 25 grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by 2 sons, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Friends may call Friday evening, March 6, from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Horn Funeral Home in Delphi, where services will be held Saturday with Pastor Toby Rendelman presiding. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery.
