SERVICES HELD FOR FORMER RESIDENTFuneral services for Mr:-. Willard (Florence) Wells of Minneapolis were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 3901 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis.Clergymen officiating were Rev. Marvin Palmquist and Rev. Amos Lundquist. The organist was Mrs. Ruth Lundquist and soloist, Jan Barsness. Bearers were Le-ander Pcrsson, Darvig Vie* burg, Frank Jenson, James Vieburg, Ray Tillman and Gary Barsness. Interment was made at the , Fort Snelling Cemetery.Mrs. Wells was born and raised in the Marathon area and has been well remem-i bered by her many Marathon friends during her illness. She was cared for in the home of her sister, Mrs. Irene Gillispie, for six months prior to re-entering the hospital.ObituaryMrs. Florence P. The first game, featuring the town women vs. the county women, will begin at 7:00 p.m. The town men will challenge the country men for the finale. Admission is 50c for adults and 25c for students. Lunch will be served during the game.All proceeds of the game will go to the Scholarship Fund of the Marathon Teachers Association.With The SickJerry Duncan entered the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake Thursday afternoon where he is receiving treatment and medication for a ruptured spinal disc. Jerry is a member of the faculty of the South Clay Community Schools, Webb and Gillett Grove.Gary Arndt spent several days last week in the Spencer Hospital for observation and x-rays. He fell 20 feet, hitting a cement floor while at his work at Sterlings, in Laurens, suffering sprains and bruises, but no broken bones.Mrs. Maggie McArthur is now residing in the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.ON DEAN’S LISTMr. and Mrs. Clarence Bloom have been informed from Trinity College, Deerfield, 111., that their daughter, Nancy, has been placed on the Dean’s List for last semester, having a 3.70 grade average.Irene Gillsipie, Minneapolis, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Johnson, Marathon, Iowa, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Danielson of Webster, Mass., and Carl E. Peterson of Calgary, Canada.Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were among relatives who attended the funeral services.
