Jad Steadman, the Independence horse trainer, is about the busiest man in that little hamlet. He has a stable full of high blooded equines which he is training for the races next fall. Among the most promising ones is Winthr op Boy, owned by Nels Hinton, of Winthrop, and Max Thistle, a half brother to Independence Boy, an Independence procdut, which^attracted the attention of horsemen last year. He is now owned by Charles Shepard, secretary of the Co lumbus, Ohio, fair association and is being trained this year by Charley Valentine.
