An organizational meeting of the grounds committee of the Stephenville Historical House Museum was held March 1 at the Carriage House. The following offers were elected: Geraldine Howe, Chairperson; Gertrude Mc Elyea, vice-chairperson; Naoma Hickie, secretary and reporter; and Billie Martin, finance chairperson. Regular meetings of the committee will be held the first Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m. Some accomplishments made during February were noted. A large Caatalpa tree was donated by Pair Nursery and planted Feb. 24 by the Stephenville Garden Club. It was located northwest of the Chapel on the Bosque in the approximate position of the original Catalpa tree that was near the Old Presbyterian Church before it was moved to the museum grounds. Preceptor Beta OPEN DAILY March §-7 Monday Tuesday Margaret Herring as co-hostess President Beth Lockhart opened the meeting. Thank-you cards were read from June Walker and Judy Donley. A request was read from Lyle Lacy for any old eyeglasses or frames to be contributed to “New Eyes for the Needy.” Louise Loudermilk presented the program and Antha Fowler discussed the duties of treas urer. Sue Hamric, Marie Johnson, Vancille Roach, Beth Lopez, Leona Bragan, Beth Lockhart, Louise Loudermilk, Margaret Herring, Norma Ruth Belcher, Eva Mae Hampton, Nila Jones and Mary Richards, Twentieth Century Club vs. J.P. Thompson was leader and introduced Virginia Walton, a student at Stephen ville High School, who read an essay on ‘Thurber, Texas Ghost Town . It told of the flourishing city and different national groups that made up the population years ago. Now only the smoke stack of the coal mine and foundations of houses remain. Alen Verde Win HE SAVING PLACE, mentioning the Historical House museum grounds and the Chapel on the Bosque, the parks and the Twentieth Century Club House and grounds. Mrs. Robert Wright showed articles made or grown in Frath County. The club house was decorated with spring flowers. Hostesses were mrs. J.P. Thompson, Mrs. E. Sikes and mrs.
