First Lutheran beat Roy Lo gan’s American Legion team on Wednesday evening, Feb. 23rd, at the Calumet School Gym, by an impressive 56-31 score for their third straight victory of the second half. Lutheran’s speed and height has taken it’s toll of the rest of the league with Bob Norem, Randy Felgenhauer, and John Cosby continually sparking the team offensively. The Legion’s Larry Rea scored ten points in a losing cause. Frank Emmett’s Griffin Chasers and Bob Prout’s Rams S.A.C. team also are putting up a battle the second half, as they did in the first half. The two teams met dead-on Tues day evening, Feb. 22nd, with Griffins coming out on top of a 55-47 score. In winning, Dennis “the Bomber” Lanz, exploded for 14 points for Griffins and Jeff Molsen followed with ten points. On the Rams’ side of the led ger, Bill Bright poured in 16 points and Danny Joyce, 12. The Owl's Roy Hathaway played a fine game to lead his team to victory over the C.A.R.A., 52- 40. Roy scored a very respecta ble 21 points and his team mates, Jim Wilson and Bob Lau had 11 each. Ed Wicherek scored 14 for CPRA, and John Pochopien 10. On Tuesday evening, the Bear's Terry Poacher, John St. Leger,and Jim Reda compiled a hefty 49 points between them to beat the Patriots, 5540. The Rams came back on Wednes day night to down St. Isidore, 63-42. In that one, the flashy Larry Pluta and “Dapper Dan” Joyce dropped in 16 points each, Bill Bright had 14. High man for St. Isidore were Jack Anderson with 14, and Dick Schulte with 13.
