(Week of Feb. 23-28, 1941) Frank A. Keifel of Planters ville, 47, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at the Brazos Valley Sanitarium. Two more bands have been added to the list of those who will participate in the third annual Texas Bluebon net Festival March 28-30. Cal vert and Normangee today sent in their acceptances. Seventeen members of Coaches C. W. Lucas and R. K. Gardner's 1940 district championship team were pre sented their awards of jackets at the assembly in high school. The awards went to Neblett Davis, captain; Roy Brewer, Thomas Waller, Win ston Pelham, Robert Fleming, John Noble Ratcliff, O. S. Wyatt, T. L. Junot, Clarion Shaw, Donald Messengal, Billy Wallis, Robert Nemir Garvin Wright, Billy Joe Ter rell, Maurice Bittick, Loraine Shanks and John L. Sullivan. The captain then presented Miss. Billie Louise Smith, sponsor, with a jacket. Navasotans contributed $129.35 for the Greek War Relief fund, according to Bill Bournias, Grimes County drive chairman. In a general discussion at the Kiwanis Club today, Rev. R. E. Milam said that he felt there was a good field in Na vasota to “sow the seeds of Americanism.’ Clyde Lee Prestwood of Austin spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Dc. H. Prestwood. Marion Pierce, student at Baylor University, spent the weekend with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Pierce Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Patout and sons, Pat and Bill were weekend guests in the home of R. A. Patout. Pat and Bill remained over for 1 visit un til Tuesday. The following girls have been selected as nominees for “Queen of Hearts’ to be selected by the audience of the “Valentine Revue” Friday at the Grammar School. They are Eloise Russell, Joyce Jones Velma Quinn, Gladys Davis, Agnes Lee Clayton, Helen Nemir, Natalie Shive, Eleanor Katherine Foster, Eleanor Margaret Brooks, Pearl Louise Meekins, Mabel Hiller, Billie Louise Smith, Wilma Harring ton, Lilyan Ruth Coleman Susie McGee and Fay Garner Sets for the revue were de signed by Billy Tom Camp. Gov. W. Lee O'Daniel will deliver a patriotic address at the celebration to be held at the state park at Old Wash ington-on-the- Brazos Sunday, March 2, in observance of Texas Independence Day. Judge T. P. Buffington will be principal speaker for the ‘banquet of the Grimes County beachers scheduled here Mon day. The Chamber of Commerce
