I Little River Girl I Named For LawrenceLITTLE RIVER — Liod a Diane Knackstedt of Little River has been chosen as the Little River American Legion Auxiliary representative to Sunflower Girls State on the University of Kansas Campus June 7 to June 14, according to Mrs. Charlotte Major, unit president.The purpose of Girls State is to educate young women in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship; to give to these citizens in a realistic manner, an opportunity to learn the problems of the government with special emphasis upon the contribution women can make to the welfare of the city, county, state and cation. The program is non - partisan and non -political.To be eligible, a girl must not only be a junior, but havej a definite interest in government, have honesty and good character, courage and cooper-ativeness, and must have a scholarship rating in the upper fourth of her class. Only girls who have never been married 'before are eligible.Linda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merville Knackstedto£ Little River.
