Bill is Before Congress Pro viding For Lighthouse at Point Elizabeth A bill by Congressman Albert John son, providing for a lighthouse, at Point Elizabeth, on the North Beach, north of Taholah, is before congress, and is said to be likely to pass, the wrecks on that coast of late years justifying the cost. Section one of the bill authorizes the secretary of the interior to set aside not exceeding two hundred and six and seventy-five one-hundredths acres at or near Cape Elizabeth, on the Quinsault Indian reservation, in the state of Washington, for light house purposes. Provided, that the secretary of commerce shall pay the Indians therefor, from the appropria tion for the general expenses of the lighthouse service for the fiscal year in which the reservation is made, such price for the lands set aside hereund er as may be agreed upon by the sec retary of the interior and the secre tary of commerce. Provided further, that the fund thus derived shall be deposited in the treasury of the United States to the credit of the Indians of the Quinsault reservation, and shall be subject to expenditure for their benefits in such manner as the secretary of the interior may deem for their best interests. Sec. 2. That there is hereby reserv ed for the use and benefit of the Indians of the Quinsault reservation in common all oil, gas, coal, or other minerals in the lands set aside here under for lighthouse purposes, and the right to prospect for and mine these commodities under such rules and regulations as may be agreed up on by the secretary of the interior and the secretary of commerce.
