A New Apple.Marion County Red is the name givento a handsome apple by its introducer, (5.W. Waterbury, of Woodburn, Oregon.Mr. W. says it is a seedling from theBaldwin. In appearance the specimensshown were a bright red, nearly solidcolor, delicately striped and blotched.The form is midway between Baldwinand Spitzenburg; calyx deep and open ;basin narrow', deep; stem short; fleshcreamy white, lighter than the Baldwin ;fine, melting texture; mild, sub-acidflavor; small core; season, February andMarch. Mr. W. states that it is a freebearer, better than Baldwin with him ; a good keeper; habit of tree similar to Baldwin when grown.
