The eojoymeut embraced spleudld music by the Packard orchestra,general cheer and and an animated auction sale of many articles. The receipts amount ed to near $130, showing net proceeds of |70. And let us tell the geuerous public who patronised as and contributed liberally to the contriba tlons that this money will be devoted to a most worthy purpose, that of succoring the needy.We are not enabled to mention all who aided us with contributions, but s|*eak of a few who contributed in a more extended way—of course, permitting those of either organization to rest content in the proud, consciousness of having performed but their duty. First, we will say that the Dispatch band treated those assembled with several of their magnificent pieces of music, the first evening. 'I he board of trustees of the Masonic Temple were very kind iu making a free offt*r of their two splendid lower rooms lu the building for tbe fair. H. D. Lee, of the wholesale gr*cery bouse, threw us In a hundred-pound sack of granulated sugar for scarcely tbe asking. Mr. Vernon, the music dealer gave us tbe use and welcome of one of his splendid piano- We were likewise favored with some fine presents from the following Halloa dealers: Lttowicb A WoWlefTer, Hothschlla Bros, and K. W. Ober, general merchandise, Mr. Custer, grocer: K. Walton, hardware; W. A M. I).Berg, furniture. From Khu*e A Ha-kell. Wra. Buizer and Deduian Bros, butchers, we received flue presents of meats.Again, we thank all. whether mentioned or not, for their geuerous acts.
