BLUEFIELD (AP) — The number of arrests in the $300,000 cash theft at the home of C. L. Clyborne of Bluefield has grown to six with the arrest of two Bluefield men this weekend. Wiliam T. “Rabbit” Martin Jr., 41, turned himself over to State Police and the FBI in Princeton Sunday. He was charged with break ing and entering, arraigned be fore Laurie C. J. Harvey in Bluefield and lodged in the Mer icer County jail pending $200,000 bbond. His attorney, Robert Holroyd, who accompanied Martin when he turned himself over to law enforcement officials, asked that a preliminary hearing be held ‘as soon as possible. _ _ William Christian, about 50, owner of the Bluefield Seat Cov er Center, was arrested Satur day shortly after returning from in Florida vacation. , _ Police searched his home, but moO money was recovered. A preliminary hearing for Christian, charged with receiv ing stolen goods, will be held Wednesday before Squire Har vey. Christian was released Sat urday on $50,000 bond. The third and fourth persons to be arrested in the theft were ‘Rufus Raymond Hampton, 37, ‘and Mary Ann Byrd, 39, both of Bluefield. They were charged with un lawful flight to avoid prosecu tion for allegedly receiving stolen goods after their arrest Feb. 27 by FBI agents in Tazer well County, Va. Police said Dwight Perdue, and Betty Powell, also of Blue field, were arrested earlier on charges of receiving stolen prop erty.. Mrs. Powell is free on bond while Perdue remains in j jail in uie of $50,000 bond.
