The judgment for $25,000 damages awarded some months ago to Jesse Meeker of this city by a jury in the East St. Louis city, court against the East St. Louis Connecting Railway, was confirmed by the appellate. court this week after being reduced to $15,* 000. The court held that $25,000. was an excessive amount. Meeker was employed as a switchman by the cojna-pany and sustained the loss of both of his legs and one arm two years ago in an accident.
