. GAINESBORO ITEMS.John Rogers met with a very painful accident on Saturday. While fitting up a red-hot horse shoe it flew up, striking him in the face, inflicting a considerable gash in his cheek.I. Allemong and H. P. Kern passed through here Saturday night en route for Wardensville,where they expected to recover a horse that was stolen from Mr. Allemong some time ago, and the thief also. Hope they will succeed in securing both.We hear that Mr, and Mrs. Marcus Larrick were surprised a few days ago by a number of their friends coming in with baskets filled with good things for the inner man ; also a full set of fine china ware. The occasion was the 20th anniversary of their marriage,Mrs. Hattie DeHaven and daughters have returned from a pleasant visit to friends near Star Tannery.B. F McDonald of Bloomery., with his bride, stopped over night in Gains-boro. The l^oys made plenty of noise with bells and horns for a short time, serenading the happy pair.We are sorry to note that dogs got among H. P. Whitacre’s sheep Sunday night and killed and crippled several of them.. Evergreen.
