Electric Lights. The city council, at its last meeting, granted the privilege of erecting, and operating an electric light plant,'for the purpose of illumioating Thomas-ville by electricity, by both the arc and incandescent system, for 'privatc and public use. The plant will be what is known ss the Houston-Thoxnpson system, which is acknowledged to be the best in the United States. The petitioners for the privilege are Messrs Davis, Reynolds and Hargraves, . Mr. Mead, of New York, and Mr. J. W. Reid, of ThomisvBle.. Work is to commence within sixty days, and the lights are to be turned on within rix months.ThomtsviUe U to bi congratulated that one of the most modern of electric plants will som be sending the electrie fluid over wires in the town, producing a light which eclipses all otfier lights, and at a coet which will pat it in reach of all. The world moves—and Thom-asvillc moves with it.As the gentlemen do not ask the town to take any lights, they will appeal, and the appeal will meet with a generom response, to every dtizm who wants a cheap and good, .steady light. Hold up the hands of the new company. They deserve a liberal support*
