Monti ay\non*iug some fifty butternuts, under the Udil^aman named Murray, entered the town, jo k possession of an old stable near t/iedepal, and about noon commenced firing lt;m passing soldiers. A Ffjuad of soldiers made an aWent on the stable, in which one soldier was1 shot in the breast causing almost instant death* and another received a flesh wound in the aVm. The man firing the shot was recognised, and immediately fell, pierced bv thirteen balls. Another butternut was shot, and when the afternoon train passed, j was lying ou the pavement, uncared for. ;It was supposed his wound was mortal. Sev- j an cral of the butternuts bad been arrested and pe placed in jail, and search mad4* for others.It appears the soldiers were to leave Paris on the train yesterday, and the wounded butternut confessed that it was their purpose to | “*j! tear up the road and fire on the titain.— ' These are the facts as we get them from Mr. Dunbar, one of our compOMtois, who cuuie in on the Western road yesterday iwening.
