Ruth Armalee Taylor Lawrence, 81, Horton, passed away Thursday, Feb 28. She was born on March 13, 1926, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Survivors include five sons, Larry, Mr. Vernon, Mo., Chuck and Andy, Horton, Michael, Holden, Mo., Joe, Atchison, daugh ters, Brenda Birchfield, Eureka Springs, Ark., Kathy Madere, Patricia Johansen and Peggy Lawrence, Horton, Valerie Hayslett, Atchison, Jamie Fortune, Fairview, Okla., 32 grand children and 66 great-grand children. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, March 3 at the Dishon-Maple- Chaney Mortuary, Horton, where the family will greet friends on Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Online condo lences may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple chaney.com. William Brown William L. “Bill” Brown, 47, Atchison, died unexpect edly Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services were Friday in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, with Rev. Steve Hollingsworth offici ating. Interment followed in Winchester-Wise Cemetery, Winchester. Visitation with the family preceded services on Friday at the funeral home and continuing until time of services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home. Bill was born December 13, 1960, in Barstow, Calif., the son of James Henry and Wilma Barnes Brown. He attended schools in Nortonville, graduating from Jefferson County North High School in 1979 and then attended and grad uated from Northeast Area Vocational Technical School, Atchison. He and the former Waconia “Sue” Smart were united in marriage on July 2, 1982 in Atchison. Bill was employed with MGP Ingredients, Atchison, as an operator, later promot ed to warehouse manager of the protein and starch divi sion, serving a total of 29 years with the company. He was a member of the Southern Baptist faith and Abate of Kansas. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, cooking for his family and friends, spending time with his grandchildren and host ing luncheons at the protein and starch warehouse assisted by his mother for his co-workers. He also was well known for making and giving away his famous salsa, devised of his own private recipe. Additionally, he was an avid NASCAR fan. Survivors include his wife, Waconia “Sue” Brown, Atchison, his mother, Wilma Brown, Winchester, a daugh ter, Teresa Brown, Atchison, a son, William Lawrence “Billy” Brown, Atchison, two brothers, Bobby Glenn Brown, Dallas, Texas, Raymond Brown, Nortonville and four grand children. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jacob Brown and his father, James Henry Brown.
