(Continued from Page 1) Burlington Fire Department. The fatality was the third ac cident on that same icy stretch of road. The first was a 4:45 p.m., one mile south of Burlington. Trooper Davis reported Donald E. Johns, 36, of Kokomo was driving a 1972 van-type truck north of SR 29 when he attempt ed to pass another northbound vehicle and lose control of his truck on the slick road. The truck slid off the left side of the road, traveled approximately 180 feet down the side ditch and roll ed completely over, landing on its wheels, according to Davis. Johns was taken to the Burling ton Clinic where he was treated and released. The 1972 truck was demolished. Assisting Trooper Davis in the investigation were County and Burlington police. Rev. Dallas Blackburn, 53, of Flora, escaped injury in a crash at 6 p.m., two miles north of Bur lington. He was en route south and attempted to pass a southbound truck when he lost control of his car on the icy road, according to Trooper Davis. The car slid off the right side of the road, trav eled about 180 feet down the side ditch and struck a culvert. Damage to the 1969 car was es timated at $250. Another driver escaped injury in a crash at 6:40 p.m. Joseph H. Bolt, Jr., 47, of Richmond was en route north and attempted to slow down at the scene of the fatal accident. Trooper Davis re ported that the car slide out of control on the ice-covered high way, traveled about 165 feet down the left-hand side ditch and struck a utility pole and fence. Damage to the 1973 car was estimated at $750. Another crash occurred at 11:40 p.m. Monday, three miles west of Burlington on CR 500-S. Trooper Davis reported that Johnny M. Birden, 18, of Oakford was travel ing west when he entered a sharp curve at too high a rate of speed. The car went out of control, skidded off the right side of the road as it rounded the curve, traveled about 150 feet down the side ditch, went through a yard and struck a tree. The car then crossed the road and traveled about 140 feet down the left side ditch, rolling onto its side. Damage to the 1965 car was es timated at $500. Burlington Police assisted Trooper Davis in the investiga tion. Two earlier accidents also were investigated in Carroll County. A two-car collision occurred at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday of last week in Delphi at the intersection of SR 25 and Market Street. Investigating office Lee Hoard reported that Angelo M. Tucci arelli, 46, of Rossville was passing a line of cars which were waiting on a train when one of the cars, driven by F. K. Sission, 50, of Flora, turned out of the line to go onto Market Street and collid ed with the Tucciarelli vehicle. Tucciarelli was charged with improper driving left, of center. Damage was estimated at $250 to the 1966 Tucciarelli car and $225 to the 1971 Sisson vehicle. Eugene McDaniel, 57, of Indi anapolis was charged with driv ing under the influence following a two car crash at 8:40 p.m. Sat urday, one mile south of Monti cello. Marilyn J. Moore, 18, of Del phi was traveling north on US 421, following a van-type truck which turned left into the Moose Lodge parking lot. Officers re ported that as the van turned, McDaniel, who was en route east on Fairway Drive, pulled onto the highway and collided with the Moore car. Damage was estimated at $450 to the 1971 McDaniel car and $400 to the 1967 Moore auto. County Officer Lee Heard and State Trooper J. B. Elmore inves tigated.
