Fire Expected to Totally Destroy Small Northern West Virginia Town Masontown is doomed. Those were the tersely uttered words of the Morgantown fire chief, as he viewed the blaze which, at 1:1 o’clock last night, was threat ening the Northern West Virginia town, according to a special tele phoned dispatch to the Post-Seralt. The one thousand inhabitants of the town, which is almost entirely made up of frame buildings, are moving their goods out of their homes, and are preparing for the worst, although it is possible that there may be checked before it spreads from the compact business section to the residential districts of the town. The Morgantown fire department, which responded to the call, is ham pered as they have no water sup ply. They have only the contents of a 100 gallon chemical tank, which they are plat on the telephone building, In an effort to keep it from catching a fire from a four story building next door. The telephone employees, however, feel that efforts to save it are use less, and have moved all possible equipment from the office. It was for this reason that it was impossible to get any bulletins from Masontown after 1:35 as to the pro gress of the inferno which is wiping the place out of existence. The cause of the fire could not be learned before telephone service was cut off.
