Last Sunday was a happy day for John McDonnell, one of A Gallatin’s real pioneers for on that day he cel ebrated his 89th birthday. Mr. Mc Donnell is the oldest pioneer in the Gallatin society and is a past pres ident. The day was spent with a few old time friends at the home on West Olive street, where two nieces Misses Lucey and Lizzie McDonash make their home with the uncle. An excel lent birthday dinner was served to the guests and the afternoon was de voted to reminiscences of the early days in the valley. Many beautiful floral gifts were received besides great numbers of congratulatory messages including that of his son, Robert Emmett, and family, living at Kansas City, Mo., 3. E. McDonnell, another son, came up from Manhattan where he operates a farm, to spend the day with his father. (Continued on Page Ten.)
