(Continued from Page One.) John McDonnell was born in Ire land in the year 1833, coming to America in 1849 and locating in New Jersey. He later went to Iowa, where he married Miss Hattie C. Stuff. They made the trip to Alder Gulch in 1864 as a honeymoon journey which proved to be exciting when traversing the country infested with hostile Indians. After a short time at Alder Gulch they moved to the Madison country, engaging in farming and stock rais ing. Later a ranch was bought near Bozeman where they remained until 194 when a comfortable home was erected in Bozeman. Mr. McDonnell now resides here with his nieces.
