Ballinger, Tex., Feb. 23.—Ac cording to a contract entered in to between G. G. Odom of this city and J. C. Straus of Okla homa, with headquarters at Wi chita Falls, Mr. Straus will drill a well on the Odom ranch, in the northwest part of this coun ty, within 90 days. Mr. Straus has deposited a cash forfeit in a local bank. He acquires lease on 7,000 acres of the Odom ranch as a basis for his drilling con tract. The Odom ranch is just over the line from Coke County, where there is considerable acti vity, and several test wells going down An increase oil flow is report ed at the Pillager well, eight miles west of here, Where drilling was resumed several days ago. Oil was struck at 1400 feet in this well, and the drill is now down about 1,550. This well is being drilled by the Runnels County Oil Company, composed of local capital, and the company holds lease on 40,000 acres of land. Work began on the well on the Hightower farm, in the northern part of this county, which was contracted for by Nelson Nel son of Fort Worth recently. The machinery is being placed on the ground.
