—At the preliminary trial of Ray Miller, charged with killing Jaa. H. C. (Polk) Shelby at Sikes ton January 20. Miller was acquitted. Miller is an officer and was attempting to arrest Shelby, who it is said, had threatened the former’s life. Shelby had a reputation for daring and was looked upon as a dangerous man. Miller proved aelf-dcfenae.
