Sir G. de la P. Bercsford.—The death is announced of Sir George de la. Poer Beresford, the second baronet. He was born in 1811, and succeeded his father, Admiral John Poer, of Poer, K.C.B., who was for some years M.P. for Northallerton and Coleraine, in 1844. The deceased entered the army in 1827, and became major of the 7th Foot in 1852. In 1841-42 he represented the borough of Athlone, and in 1846 was married to a daughter of Mr. D. Lucas, of Clonlebret, Monaghan. He is succeeded in his title and his estates by his nephew, Henry Monson de la Poer, who was born, in 1850. One of the deceased baronet’s sisters is the wife of Dr. Reginald Courteney, bishop of Kingstown, Jamaica.
