OBITUARY.Judith PVancis Howard was born near Eddyville, Lynn County, Kentucky* Feb. 4; 1839 and at the ageofeighteen removed with. her family to Memphis jjMisso’irriat which place'she Was‘marriedto ?John Clinton Miller, August 10, 1859. Vf ith. him .shejre-mo vexL to Polk-countyi in 18,69 where she Continued to reside until after her husband V.death sixteen years ago.She confessed; her Christ inearly ilfe and an unfaltering faith in ITis promisos, soohed and • sustained ’her duriiig all the after years and especially the last few, during, which she suffered serious affliction and enabled her to approach calmly and even cheerfully the. nearing hour that should make her . final dissolution.She Was the mothre of hinc-iihildren, six of whom survive tb cherish her in their memory asi. ■lovin gand affectionate mother who was ever ready to iacvrifice her own pleasure and comfort for those whom she loved. ' ' .She died at the home of \\er; daughter,. Mrsu.C.has. Whitake, at Eufaula, Oklahoma, where she had gone to spend the winter in. her native southern climate and where she” was tenderly nursed during her last illness by members of the same race who nursed her in her infapey back in the slavery., days in her dear old- soiltelirnhome... . ^‘i The-nigth is gone and with the moon those angel faces smiley which she . had loved long since and lost awhile.”A short funeral Service was held at her daughter's home in Shel-dahl after which the remains were taken to the Congregationalchurch bf which she was a member, at Polk City and thtrregular services held. Rev. Ijavender of Newton, Iowa, a former pastor there, pr.eacehd the sermon assisted by Rev. Hall and Rev. Barton^ Interment was made at the Polk* City cemetery beside her husband and three children who preceded her to the home above.—Sheldahl, IoWa, Thrift.
