Howard B.on page 2.)For the third consecutive year a large group of 4-H club members of Linn County are spending a three day study and recreation period in Pershing Perk.Harve Kelley, park superintendent, has made them comfortable in eight of the cabins and they have taken possession of the new recreation and dining hall.Raymond Carroll, Jr., Linn County Extension Agent and Mrs. Dorothy Ady. Home Economics leader of Linn County, are in charge of the group. Mrs. Everett Brown, Purdln, is the head cook for the third consecutive year.Assisting her on alternate days are Mrs. James Meneely and Mrs. Logan Meneely, of Meadville.Brazil Morlan, Macon, from the educational division of the Missouri Conservation Commission, is directing the afternoon nature lore study course.The boys and girls assembled early Wednesday morning and by 10:00 o’clock 42 of those who had signed the pre - registration blanks had registered as present.The cabins were set up and as sigmnents made by 11:00 o'clock. Then they prepared for lunch at noon.There was an assembly call at 1:00 p. m. where songs were enjoyed and election of camp officers was held.At 2:30 they gathered on the grassy slope adjacent to the recreation hall to pose for pictures and to enjoy a round of games.Leadership training classes were held at 4:30 p. m. The routine broke up at 5:30 and preparations were made for supper which was at 8:00 o'clock.How those youngsters did eat and such wonderful food I All of the good things of the garden — and meat, too.The flag lowering ceremony was held at 7.00 o'clock. At 7:15 all enjoyed a movie. This was followed by a recreation hour of mixed games. Then to their cabins and to bed — sleep came slowly but definitely at an early hour.The camp officers elected, after careful nominations and balloting, were as follows:Camp chairman, Herbie Meneely; vice-chairman, Marlene Peacher; secretary, Carolee Peacher; editor, Bob Sallee.Group officers elected were: Katy Dids, co-captains, Grace Jerome and Harold Roe; reporter, Mabel Tomlin.Butterflies — co-captains, Anna-beth Meneely and Billy Olinger; reporter, Shirley Yagel.Crickets — co-captains, Robert Hargadine and Eleanor Hoover; reporter, Sandra Hoskins.Bumble Bees — co-captains. Dixie Elliott and Jimmy Thorne; reporter.
