Chicago, June 29.—(#)—A new medicine to prevent measles, a discovery used so far only by the armed forces, is going to be made available to the people of United States at cost, the erican Red Cross announced t day. The preventive is called ini# mume serum globulin and is ob tained from the blood contri buted by citizens through the Red Cross. Recent studies disclosed that serum contains all the blood’s antibodies, the substances which provide immunity after one h had a particular disease. So immune serum globulin has been used only for measles. The announcement, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, said , now that a surplus has been up, beyond the needs of the arm ed forces ,the Red Cross de to release the medicine to fans.
