Negro Slain By Posse For Shooting Of Man, Wife At Round RockfBy Associated FrenJA USTIN, June 28 — Less than an hour after he had shot and seriously wounded Mr. and Mrs, R. L. Eggar of Round Rock, near here. Jack Robertson. a negro, was shot and killed by a posse today. Mr and Mrs. Eggar were in a hospital at Georgetown in a serious condition, but their wounds were not expected to prove fatal.The shooting was said to have followed an argument o\er the payment of wages to Robertson by Eg-gar.The negro was shot by two members of a posse estimated at 150 who took up the search immediately after the Eggars were wounded. He had attempted to flee from Round Rock but was Intercepted along the road to Austin and killed instantly,Eggar and his wife were shot shortly before noon in their residence in the presence of thetr 14-year-old daughter, Willie Mae, Immediately following the shooting the girl ran to a neighbor's residence and spread the alarm.Reports that the girl had been carried away by the negro alarmed the entire village and in a short time a large posse had been formed to search for the assailant.Eggar was shot in the head and breast with bird shot from a shotgun. Attending physlicans stated he probably would lose the sight of his right eye. Mrs. Eggar was shot in the right breast and side, part of Eggar’s face was tom aw’ay by the force of the shot.The negro fled immediately after the shooting in an automobile with his wife, and neighbors, who had heard the shooting, rushed to the assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Eggar.
