ReavinG, June 21.—An atrocious in fant murder took place yesterday afternoon near Boyerstown, in this county. A little child of Mr. Wm. Leedy, about « year old, had its throat cut from ear to ear with a boteler knife, by a girl about 18, named Catharine Hummell, employed in the fam ily is wurse. The deed was perpetrated while the family were out at work in the hay held. The girl at first charged the crime on a switchman on the railroad, but circumstan ces pointed almost conclusively to her guilt, which, it is said, she afterward ad mitted. No motivn is known, except that she killed the child because it was troub lesome. After the murder, she fled to the woods, and was not apprehended till this mornieg, when the driver of the Boyers , town stage picked her up, near Stevenville and brought her to thin guy, when she was committed. . The Todians of the CallAraugus reserva tion are about to present a petition to the excise board of Perepab, N. Y., wakin them not to grant any liquor license in that own this year. '
