The information brings to grief several ingenious and Scriptural theories by which, in yesterday's Press, we accounted for her matrimonial infatuation toward tbe Benicia Boy. We are not sure that we ought to allow our pleasing and Scriptural theories to be destroyed by a mere fact.41 We make no concessions to our Hebrew friends, on the score of their own transgressions or the persecution of other nations. As their own Abraham remarked toDi\es, they had their good time when they were the favored people of God, and it was then rather sore times for the Canaanities and other Gentiles, whom they used to call “dogs.'' ISow the '‘dogs” are having their day, and it is rather pleasing to contemplate those who used to spurn us, cursed to make their money here among Yankees, instead of wearing out the edge of their genius on each other, among the barren rocks of Jerusalem.1'Without being able to understand the above jargon, we protest against ever having called anybody a “ dog, not esen Henry Reed Co., in the time of dngdays. Furthermore it roust be said that we are not cursed, but bit seed to make our money among Yankees, a class of people in which Henry Reed A: Co are not counted, they having seen better days on the Emerald Isle, where gin is cheaper and pork and beans are more abundant than in this country. Historians have not ascertained yet tbe original race of which Henry Reed Co are descendants; but according to the above sentiments it is evident that they have much similarity to Chatholic monks uf medioeval memory.“The barren rocks of Jerusalem —do you need a Letter evidence that the writer oT the above jargon was not in a sober condition when writing it? We debate questions with a sober man only.
