He played left field for the Wizzos.Illinois’ 150th YearRyersonThe National Bank of Austin and more than 1,500 other Illinois Banks and Savings and Loan Associations have begun distributing commemorative medals and medallions in association with the Illinois Sesqui-centennial commission, according to Edward G. Van de Ven, president of the National Bank of Austin.Thus, the major financial institutions of the twenty-first state to enter the Union will be playing an important part in the year-long observance of the state’s 150th year, Van de Ven said.Proceeds from sales of all banks and savings and loan associations in a particular county will be diverted to support Sesquicentennial projects and activities in that county. The 1,000 banks and 500 savings and loan associations participating in the distribution are donating their time and facilities and performing this public service on a completely nonprofit basis. They are the sole distributors oi the medallions within the state.Plays forCrownThe dollar-sized pieces hav^ been issued, and sell for., solid silver and nickel-bronze. Each silver piece is numbered on the edge and enclosed in a plastic holder. Only 10,000 silver pieces have been issued, and, sell for $7.50 each. Lawndale, will battle Davis playground this afternoon (Wednesday) for the city championship. The game will be played in Gary playground, 2900 S. Lawndale.This year’s Ryerson squad is one of the hardest-hitting in the playground’s history. Unbeaten in eight games to date, they 1 have collected 20 runs in at ■ least three games.
