obituary:James Luther Stites, son of Ezekiel F. and Calista Stites, was born in North Milan, Ind., June 11, 1835 and passed away in the evening’s twilight of his life, June 21,^1911, aged 76 years and 10 days at Greensburg, Ind. ; ,He grew to manhood under the sublime influence of his home and mother. He receivd his early, education in the then poorly equippeddistrict schools of those days, but’ • • • *the indomitable will which has characterized him throughout' his meritorious and successful career, was developed and trained in, the struggles and vicissitudes of his early life, to conquer the hardships he found so frequently surrounding him: * • » : '•When on June 11, 1860. He was, united in marriage to Elizabeth Knowlton, to them -were born one son and one daughter, George Kenton, and Emma. His devoted and I loving companion died Sept. 6,! ; 1887. His only daughter Mrs. ] j James Hallowell, in a great meas- , , ure took her., place, comforting and | 'caring for him until her death,] June. 17, 1905. His parents, brother, wife, and children, having all passe a^ay,. he' -was'•■•thus le^h alone. This, therefore, is the? saddest misfortune that can befall any person, more especially ;one of the social and home like disposition of Mr. Stites. In February ; 18 6 7, the subject of this sketch, joined the I. O. 6.
