Little wheat will be cut this month. I. D. Stoops, of Cory, is on the sick list. A petition is in circulation for a bridge across Eel river at the old hill. Farmers are becoming discouraged on account of wet weather. Rev. Rhoads reports a good time at the Children’s meeting at Plymouth the Ivth. There is a contest between Dr. Modesitt and L. M. Rhoads as to which can do most to please the children. It depends on the future for us to decide. A serious accident happened west of Cory on the railroad Saturday. As the section hands were going down grade the hand car jumped the track, running over and seriously hurting John Wil liams and slightly hurting James Burke. Allie Harper closed her school at the Washington school house Friday. Her labors were attended with the best of re sults and the last day was celebrated by the patrons and all lovers of education in the district, by a grand dinner and a good time. About 100 persons were present. Yet on account of hard times and to lay by something to support the poor while the future graded school in Cory will be robbing the tax payers, the orators of the vicinity were not there. Consistency thou art a jewel; (so is economy.) Why go to the grave when Swiss Liv er Compound will lengthen your life. It is a soverign remedy for the blood and whole system.
