Wood takes his removal from office very philosophically. “Thai’s the firs! time I was ever fired in my life/’ said Wood Iasi week, “bui that is one of the penalties of holding a political job. I have no plans for the future except that 1 shall not seek reappointment. 1 have been aware for some time chat several people at H'ibbmg were trying to secure my discharge and i was not surprised when they were successful. There is one thing, however, that 1 will not tolerate and that is insinuations affecting my integrity. When 1 charged the coals of prosecutions to defendants the commission knew that 1 was doing so. As quick as 1 was notified that this was not correct I stopped the practice. 1 have always tried to do my duty by the state and by the people of this section who are anxious to see the wholesale violation of the game laws stopped. I hope the next man appointed will he someone thoroughly interested in this work and that he will be as active and vigorous as Che needs of the situation require. No man is too good to be appointed to this place.”
