ANNUAL WOMAN’S DAY AT ST. JOHN, 425 Forest Avenue, was a grand success with Mrs. Loretta Jefferies as General Chairman. Pastor Percy Smith, Jr. spoke word of Praise for Mrs. Jefferies, and the co-chairman, Mrs. Willie Jenkins, Mrs. Louise Gamble, and Mrs. Millie Jordan. Special Thanks were expressed to all the Com mittees, The Captains-Key Women, The Queen Con tants, for all the women, and children. Mrs. Blanche Brown reigns this year as “Miss Saint John”. Mrs. Willie Jenkins was close runner-up, with Mrs. Ella Milton and Mrs. Mable White third and second runner-up respectively. Mrs. S. W. Lancaster, Assistant Professor of English at Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina was the Woman's Day featured Speaker. Mrs. Lancaster, was recently back from two trips to Africa - first as Delegate to the World Council of Churches in Nairobi, Kenya and later as Guest of the Ghanian Government - where they celebrated the 100th year of the Birth of Dr. J. E. K. Aggrey her deceased Father. Mrs. Lancaster brought a powerful message on the theme: ‘Bicentennial Committments of Christian Women . Many were moved by her warmth and charm. She spoke kindly of the con cern and publicity given by Editor, Mr. B. Simpson and Public Relations Chrm., Mrs. Irene Simpson. At the afternoon Special Dinner Mrs. Mattie Kinney, “Woman of the Year 1975 , brought a beautiful tribute of Faith. Other participants are shown below.
