North Austin NineIs Star-StuddedThe North Austin Boys Club’s Connie Mack baseball team currently leads the Amundsen Park league with a 5-0 record. The club’s record in the parkloop over the past four years is46 wins and only one loss.The North Austin roster reads like a who’s who of top area athletes, many of whom starred with the North Austin Boys club grid teams before reaching high school.Bill Lucas, who next season will captain the Fenwick high| school basketball team, plays first base and is batting .400. He also pitches and has won his only outing to date.Another ex-North Austin grid star, Russ Cangelosi, is one of the boilers. Daring the past year he was an all-city and all-state football player at Chicago Latin. This spring he twirled Chicago Latin to the league championship and was named to the all league baseball team. He has signed a tender to attend Yale University in the fall.Ralph Dato ex-Weber footballstar now attending DuBuaueUniversity is a three year Connie Mack vet and presently playing the outfield and batfing 295. Ralph hit his first home run against Melrose Park, hitting the fence some 350 feet from home plate.New additions are two standout all-city players from thisiyears 24-2 Foreman high school team Shortstop. Gino Pesce -ad oj:lelder Bob Now-inski. Both also pitched during the last season for Foreman. Pesce’s record was a healthy 10-1..Greg Seramuzzo, all-city pitcher from St. Philip is 6’5” and 235 pounds. He currently has a 2-0 record with the boys club. Craig has 15 strikeouts in 10 innings and an earned run average of 1.50Ken Meister, star hurler for the perreniai baseball power Holy Cross, is 1-0 with the Boys Club. His win is over a strong Melrose team, 6 to 0. Ken gave up but one hit and that a misjudged fly ball. Ken has 18 strike outs so far thisseason.* *Tom Kavanda from Western Michigan University is the left handed power on-the NA staff. Tom is an ex-all state baseball player from Proviso East. This year is college he posted a 5 * 0 record, facing such top teams as Michigan State. In his only appearance for the Boys Club this year Tom pitched a no-hifc game, beating Hiawatha.Tom Kettinger, all-league catcher from Oak Park High school, is batting a strong .300.
