Cowboys seeking world’s championships in riding and roping events continue compe tition tonight and again Sun day afternoon at Redwood Acres. The Redwood Empire Rodeo got under way last night with spectacular dronc and bull rid ing events plus some exception ally fine roping times. The show continues tonight at 6'clock. The Sunday afternoon show opens at 1 o'clock with the Grand Entry in which all horse men of the county are invited to participate. The rodeo performances goes ‘on rain or shine both tonight and Sunday, rodeo officials said. There is a covered grand stand for both reserved and general admission seats. Last night's rodeo was fast moving, with track and arena events running simultaneously and keeping Master of Cere monies Blaine McGowan and Rodeo Announcer Mel Lambert busy keeping up with the ac tion. The track in front of the grandstand was kept in con stant use all during the rodeo show, as a number of thrilling and entertaining specialty acts, t were presented. Sensational Acts These featured trick riding by the Cabrals and Miss Carmel Moore, who formed pyramids on horseback. One of the most spectacular and daring teats was that performed by Chief Cabral, who, straddling three horses Roman style, jumped them at high speed over and through a flaming hurdle. ‘Trick riders Marjorie Thorn, Carmel Moore and Buddy Far ren displayed courage and abil ity with tricks performed on the backs of running horses. In addition, Farren's trained horse act with his dressage horse, ‘Prairie Fire,” and his pony,’ “Jiminy Cricket, proved to be a highlight in the track events. Slim Pickens lived up to his title of master clown of the rodeo business and held the crowd's attention with his num erous antics. One of his featur ed acts is “bull fighting, which not only provides amusement, but also serves to attract the Brahma away from the rider and pickup men. sarena results Calf Roping —B. J.
