Now that Summer, with its accompanying sun tan oil and tennis shoes, is bare in earnest, well by tucking Auntie Corri dor away in moth balls along with the Winter coat for the season. Here goes for the last roundup. Diplomas will be passed out at ‘Hyde Park today, with 669 grad uates on the receiving end. Dr. Harry Everett will be speaker ‘at the ceremonies. Happy news for South Shore-ites: There school will be accredited by the Univer sity of Illinois. The South Shore dedication came off as per schedule in spite of the rain. Mayor Kelly couldn't be there, but a liberal sprink ling of other officials gave the affair a certain air of dignity. Louise Russell and David Eng lund delivered the student ad dresses. This same Louise Rus sell, by the way, drew a straight “S report card. Whew! Nancy Bixby, Howard Rose, Ted Baeh ler, Ann Marie Smith, Betty Julestrom, Vincent Cleary, Daniel Jones, Jocelyn Bedford, Ruth Bachrath, Clifford Randall, Wil liam O'Donnell, Ruth Gibson, Fred Menninger, Betty Buzanis, Dorothy Lyon, Jim Cox, Leonore Keenan Bob Doyle, Wayne Kent, and Betty Johnson all lit candles to, patrio tism, truth, learning, beauty, faith, honesty, loyalty, courage, tolerance and service. The Hyde Park class day lunch was yesterday in the school cafe teria. South Shore’s P.T.A. plans to raise funds with a vanishing bridge party. The idea seems to be that 16 ladies have a bridge party. Then each of the 16 has a bridge party for eight other la dies, and each of the eight for four. The way we figure it, the end of the Summer will find vast numbers of lone ladies sitting at home Playing solitaire—and all for the glory of old South Shore. hPa y. News of lady athletes at South Shore:—Evelyn MacHard and Louise Weeks have advanced to the tennis semi-finals. Eleven girls won their letters—Betty Bu zanis, Tony Cattolico, Adele Dob son, Eleanor Olczyhe, Alfredo Raclaw, Robbie Gill, Virginia Hendrickson, Muriel Morris, Shir ley Morris, Judy Rosenberg, and Louise Weeks. The stage in the Hyde Park auditorium will sport a fancy new curtain, gift of the graduating class. Just by way of brightening things up, a number of South Shore guys are sporting satin shirts striped in sixteen (16) dif ferent colors. It seems senior class president Tom Whetmore sent to Colorado for the haberdashery and unloaded it on his fellow students. Scholarship winners at Hyde Park include Stuart Bloom, Dick Stern, Robert Roth, George Saphir, Eleanor Yungmeyer, Floy Winnett Sidney Strack, Simma Kunin, and Johann Gardner. South Shore's Carol Aiken will be moving to Texas as soon as school is out for the Summer. And Carolyn Carten will spend her Summer in Muskegon. Which just about cleans up the icebox.
