Following the trip thru the mine, the Idoho Springs Elks enter tain d the Denver scribes at thair handsome new club building. Exalted Ruler J. C. Meyer acting as host.“Tnenatural warm water of the Idaho Springs swimming p ol held attractions for many of the Denver visitors, as did the wonderful radium baths of the Hot .springs and Ksdium Cave Baths company. A chicken dinner and tngo luncheon in the trocadero was thoroly enjoyed after the trip thrn the mine, given by J. Meyers Jr. and D. G. Holland.“Automobiles conveyed the party about Ida1 o Springs and its famous mines, a nd gave them a tasie of the charming scenery of the Midland trail. Each member of the party was presented with a miniature sack of gold bearing ore from a recent strike in the Lincoln group of mines.“Mayor Geor re McClelland of Idaho Springs, with members of the City council and other city officials, pers n-ally superint nded the entertainment of the Press club visitors, the town constable being right on the job .ill day.The following is taken from the Denver News:“Idaho Springs snowed what a royal host it could be yesterday when it entertained members of the Denver Press club upon the occasion of the club’s annual ‘Splash’ a'd first summer outing.“Under the general supervision of Minor George McClelland, and members of the city council, the visitors were driven about the city, a score of autos being placed at their disposal The Elks’club w is thrown open and ‘open house’ was held thru ut the day, Exalted Ruler, J. C Meyor acting as host.“The Hot Springs and Radium Cave Baths company, thru J, Meyer Jr. and D. G. Holland, gave the writers and their friends a chicken tango luncheon at the Trocadero.“Appetites for lunch were engendered by a trip thru the Big Five tun nel on hand cars. The party went to the 9,000 foot mark in the big bon-, and each was given a miniature sack of ore fr.m a recent strike on the Lincolngroup“The Press club special, in charge of Peter Macken, engineer and John Wale, conductor, and Fred Richards and Oscar Clark, broke all record for the run from Denver to Idaho Springs, the time being less tnan two hours”.
