Miss Helen Irene Haralson of Jarrell died suddenly on June 13 in the Georgetown Hospital after an ex tended illness. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15 from the First United Methodist Church of Jarrell, under the direction of the Young Funeral Home of Florence. Burial was in Corn Hill Cemetery. Reverend Kenneth Boatman and Reverend B. B. Thomas officiated. Mrs. B. C. Smith, pianist ac companied the Community Choir in singing ‘‘How Great Thou Art” and “Sunrise Tomorrow.” Pallbearers were A. T. Vogel, Jim Sybert, B. C. Smith, J. F. Smith, Fred Harrison, H. L. Jones, Lester Bridges and James Jones. Honorary pallbearers were John W. Cornforth, Taylor; G. G. Condra, Ft. Worth; O. R. Harrison, T. H. Huckabee, Jarrell; Donald Barron, Paul Anderson; and Homer Caswell, all of Georgetown. Survivors are one sister, Mrs. F. W. Buchanan of Jarrell; one brother, D. L. Haralson, Sr., San Angelo; seven nephews, D. L. Haralson, Jr.; J. R. Haralson; J. R. Haralson, all of Lake Jackson; Harry L. Fraiier, Dallas; James D. Frasier, Austin; H. C. (Hank) Milam, Jr., Los Angeles, California; Gordon Box, Chula Vista, California; four nieces, Mrs. Dean Carlton, Ft. Worth; Mrs. Lewis Neal, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Owen Hunter, Bakersfield, California and Mrs. David Barnes, Redwood, California. Miss Haralson’s parents were James Thomas and Arminta (Shaver) Haralson. She attended North Texas University at Denton and received her B.S. Degree from South west Texas State University at San Marcos. Before working on her Master’s Degree, she studied at Texas Tech; also completed specialized work in California. She received her Master’s degree from the University of Texas and had done some work in California and Texas University on her Ph. D. She taught many years in McAllen, also in Huntsville, Houston and Georgetown. While teaching in Houston, she was named ‘“‘Teacher of the Year’, and also received a reward for perfect attendance at P.T.A. . Miss Haralson was a member of American Ass’n. of University Women; Hadassah Chapter #188 C.ES.; a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jarrell where she was a member of the Blue Ribbon Sunday School Class and a member of the Jarrell H. D. Club. Her kind, cheerful and friendly disposition endeared her to her friends and her Christian character and sterling qualities were an in spiration to all who knew her.
