Many of the daguerrotype photographs tucked away in Fairfield trunks and attics were made by Fairfield’s first known photographer, Moses Schamp. Schamp’s studio was a small building on the corner of the lot now occupied by the Fairfield Public library. He lived in the rear of the building. In later years Schamp moved his busi ness to the east side of the square.
